While the Bible is the world’s best-selling book, it’s also the world’s most shoplifted book.

The Bible was not split into chapters until late 11th or early 12th century, more then 1,100 years after the New Testament was written.

There are 1,189 chapters in the Bible: 929 chapters in the Old Testament and 260 chapters in the New Testament.

The New Testament wasn’t split into verses until 1557.

There are 31,273 verses in the Bible.

The shortest chapter in the Bible is Psalm 117. (2 verses)

The longest chapter in the Bible is Psalm 119. (176 verses)

The chapter at the Bible’s centre is Psalm 118.

There are 594 chapters before and after Psalm 118. When you add these numbers up and you get 1,188 which will give you the Chapter & verse at the exact centre of the Bible. (I.E. the 15,637th verse) Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” (KJV)

Now isn’t that odd how this worked out or was God in the centre of it?

The shortest verse in the Bible consists of two words: "Jesus wept" (John 11:35).

The word ‘Lord’ appears in the bible 7,736 times.

The word ‘God’ appears in the bible 3,358 times

In a 1631 printing of the Bible, an English printer left out the word “not” from the Seventh commandment, causing it to read - “Thou shalt commit adultery”. This printing was referred to as “The Wicked Bible”.


The Bible has been translated into many languages but by far the strangest is Klingon. (A fictional language created for Star Trek.)


Almonds & pistachios are the only nuts mentioned in the Bible.

Although not named in the New Testament, tradition names the two thieves crucified at thesame time as Jesus are Dismas and Gestas. (Taken from the Roman records of the day).

Frankincense is a gum resin used as a base for incense. Myrrh, also a gum resin, it was valued as a perfume and unguent used in embalming.

The Bible devotes some 500 odd verses on prayer, less than 500 verses on faith but well over 2,000 verses on money and possessions.


The longest name in the Bible Mahershalalbaz. (Isaiah 8:1).

The oldest person in the bible was Methuselah and he was 969 years old. (Genesis 5:27).


The first translation of the English Bible was initiated by John Wycliffe and completed by John Purvey in 1388.

The name Iraq means country with deep roots. Indeed, Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible. Here’s why:

Nimrod established Babylon and the Tower of Babel was built in Iraq that is were the confusion of the languages took place. Genesis 10: 8-9 7 and 11:1-11

Isaac’s bride came from Iraq. Genesis 24:3-4 and 24:10

Jacob Spent 20 years in Iraq. Genesis 27:42-45 and 31:38
